LAKEVILLE, Conn. – February 16, 2024 – Eaglebrook Varsity basketball made the long drive to the shores of Wononskopumuc Lake to face off against Hotchkiss.
The Bearcats got on the board first off the opening tip, but the Eagles responded quickly. Intense pressure on the defensive end of the court allowed Eaglebrook to grab an early lead, with Hotchkiss calling a time out 3 and a half minutes into the game, already down 15-3.
After a few adjustments, the Bearcats settled in and found more success on the offensive end of the court, cutting the Eagle lead to 8 with just over 7 minutes to go in the half. Solid play from the bench allowed Eaglebrook to expand their lead to 16 points, 39-23, at the half.
Eaglebrook opened the second half aggressively, forcing numerous Bearcat turnovers, and within a few minutes had expanded their lead by 25 points. Effective substitutions allowed everyone on the floor to contribute to the victory, with the Eagles walking away with a 27-point victory at the final buzzer.
Next up for the Eagles is a Tuesday afternoon game at Westminster.
